CLARINET MASTERCLASS: TMEA ALL-STATE AUDITIONS 2022-2023

The Prime Music Institute is delighted to host three prominent clarinet clinicians – Dr. Janghyun Thomas Kim, Dr. Dasom Nam, and Dr. Shih-Yen Chen for masterclasses designed for the TMEA All-State auditions. The purpose of this event is to support local high school clarinet players in the DFW area who are preparing for the TMEA All-State auditions. These masterclasses will give the young clarinet players an opportunity for a mock audition and receive feedback to develop their clarinet playing skills and get ready for the All-State auditions.

This two-day event will consist of a masterclass on Sunday 10/30 and a mock audition on Sunday 11/13. Since the event venue has limited capacity, there will be two different kinds of enrollments:

1) General Participant: students enrolled in general admission get to play at the mock audition (brief comments and scores included) and can attend the masterclass to observe (optional).

2) Soloist: students enrolled as soloists get to play at the mock audition (brief comments and scores included) and perform at the masterclass and receive more detailed feedback.

There will be monetary awards for students who receive high scores on the mock auditions.
